What is the App Store title character limit?
The App Store title limit is 30 bytes (not characters). For plain English text that’s 30 characters, but multi-byte characters — accented letters, emoji, CJK — use more than one byte each, so the real budget is in bytes. The subtitle is also 30 bytes and the hidden keyword field is 100 bytes.
What is the Google Play title character limit?
The Google Play title limit is 30 characters (Google reduced it from 50 in 2021). The short description is 80 characters and the full description is 4,000 characters — and on Play, both the short and full descriptions are indexed for search.
Why does iOS count bytes instead of characters?
Apple budgets its text fields in UTF-8 bytes. A plain letter is 1 byte, but an accented character like “ä” is 2 and an en dash “–” is 3, so a title that looks 28 characters long can exceed the 30-byte limit. This tool counts the real bytes for iOS fields.
