What is the App Store title character limit?
The App Store title limit is 30 characters. The subtitle is also 30 characters and the hidden keyword field is 100 characters. Apple states all three on its product page, and they are characters rather than bytes: an accented letter, a Japanese character and a plain letter each cost one.
What is the Google Play title character limit?
The Google Play title limit is 30 characters (Google reduced it from 50 in 2021). The short description is 80 characters and the full description is 4,000 characters. On Play, both the short and full descriptions are indexed for search.
Does the App Store count bytes or characters?
Characters. It is a common belief that Apple budgets its fields in UTF-8 bytes, and this tool used to count that way, but a keyword field of exactly 100 characters is accepted in Thai where each character costs three bytes. The practical consequence is worth knowing: because every script costs the same per character, a Japanese or Korean keyword field holds several times more terms than an English one.
